Compulsive Behaviour

Hypnotherapy can help to change automatic behaviours and things we feel compelled to do. The drive to repeat the same behaviours and rituals comes from a desire for comfort, to enable us to feel secure and safe and reassured. Repeating things that give us a secure feeling tend to reinforce those reassuring feelings more. The good news is that these habits can be broken down with careful efforts. Anyone experiencing compulsive behaviour, thoughts or feelings needs to be determined to get better, as they will have to actively work with the hypnotherapy for it be successful.

Hypnotherapy is useful for a huge range of psychological and medical conditions, it is excellent for breaking bad habits, addictions and phobias, and can provide outstanding results in personal improvement of all kinds. Intelligent, educated people often use hypnosis as they know it works, they are not fooled by ill informed notions of losing control. They understand hypnosis is about taking control of your life and choosing to be the best version of you.

Compulsive behaviours usually begin through the desire for comfort and reassurance. Checking and repeating behaviour can get out of hand from something that is reassuring and logical to something that is out of control. Usually the sufferer and those close to them are aware there is a problem but compulsive repetitive behaviours are hard to control because there is a sense of relief gained from repeating the actions and sometimes there are perceived dangers from failing to repeat the actions sufficiently. Overcoming these fears is key to controlling the problem. With a careful approach, establishing the root causes of the compulsive behaviours can be achieved fairly rapidly through hypnotherapy. Reinforcing the power of the individual to choose whether of not to perform the repeat actions or behaviors then becomes the focus of therapy. Success can be seen usually within 2 sessions of hypnotherapy.
