What is Confidence? There are many types of confidence. It doesn't have to mean being the 'life and soul of the party.' Some confident people have a quiet impressive confidence and inner calm. Some confident people enjoy or are at ease with being the centre of attention and may enjoy things like public speaking. Which ever way you look at it, self confidence is so important in virtually every area of your life and yet so many people struggle and feel they lack the essential yet elusive personal quality of confidence and self belief. Lacking confidence makes it harder for you to come across well to others. Your communication and self-expression often suffers, opportunities are missed, perhaps ignored as your subconscious mind keeps you down with feelings of inadequacy, feeling not good enough, that other people are better than you, that you are not up to the mark. These are common feelings when there is a significant lack of confidence. A lack of confidence means not getting as much out of life as a confident person. You may fear to try new things, meet people, take challenges becase failing hits you so much harder when you lack confidence. Failure rocks you to the core and makes you believe you are useless. Your negative self-image jumps in to 'stick the boot in' when you are down. Gaining confidence is achievable. That is all you need to believe to get started. |
